Hello everyone, we finally made it to Italy yesterday afternoon. We flew into Naples on a quick 2 hour flight and made it to town. This city is CRAZY, if you think Houston or New York drivers are crazy come here. The streets are tiny, and confusing because street names change with each block. Motorcycles cut off cars and buses constantly by inches, several times we thought we would be in an accident. Also taxi drivers here, I read about them and prepared Philip, they will take the long way around town, try to charge you more than the meter says etc. Well our guy was no exception. When we arrived at the center city square we got a taxi to the hotel (there was no way we would have found it otherwise) he finally found it and it was $7.50 euros, Philip gave him a $20 and this taxi driver gave Philip back $5!?!?
Philip was like - no way I gave you twenty dollars! - the driver tried to tell him he was charging for the luggage we had...whatever! But Philip stuck by his guns and demanded the money back and got it, but being the nice guy still gave the driver a tip. Oh well!
Anyways this city is nuts and we only spent one night here thank God! Did not really have time to see any sites since we made it to town by 5pm and everything started closing up.
This morning we are headed to the airport to rent a car and drive to Pompeii then to a small town called Positano on the Amalfi cost for a night. Then off to Rome! Hope you are all well, talk to you soon!
